Reasonable Doubts – Because Doubting is Fun.
First off: I have no idea what you’re actually expecting here. Something like ten ultimate life rules, five steps to a brilliant business idea, or three magic tips for never-ending happiness? Sorry, I must disappoint you. You definitely won’t find anything like that here. Would be terribly boring anyway, wouldn’t it?
Maybe is my passion project. A monthly collection of meaningful doubts, optimistic uncertainty, and wonderfully unfinished thoughts about life, work, our future, and the uncomfortable truth that nobody really knows what they’re doing.
Why am I doing this?
Simple: Because I firmly believe that a bit of ironic ambiguity takes us much further than all those dogmatic advice blogs that know exactly (or pretend to know) what the perfect life should look like. I love questioning certainties, carefully challenging assumptions, and occasionally, quite casually, making you choke on your coffee and think: “Damn, he’s right. Maybe.”
That’s why in every article of Maybe, you’ll find relatively few definitive answers and quite a lot of beautifully difficult questions. Because I think truly good stories don’t come from perfectly thought-out plans, but from magnificently messed-up plans – and a good sense of humor about it.
But Wait a Minute…
What do you actually get here then?
Glad you asked! It’s simple:
- Every month I write about topics where I stumble myself – about personal growth, career chaos, thoughts about the future, occasionally about politics and society, or simply about how wonderfully skilled we are at regularly getting in our own way.
- At the end of each article, a small, loving surprise awaits you called “Maybe”: a portion of ironic-optimistic doubt, a mental wink, a few smart question marks to make the rest of your day a bit more beautifully complicated.
Who am I?
I’m Cedric May. I also don’t know how life works, of course. Especially not yours. But I really enjoy asking the right questions, conducting nice little thought experiments, and having fun charmingly dismantling the myth of “clever certainties.” Does that sound good to you (and perhaps even a bit necessary)? Wonderful, then feel warmly invited to check in regularly.
Maybe you’ll get smarter. Maybe just more confused. Probably a bit of both. That’s just how life is.
Once Again, Officially Formulated (for Fans of Fine Print):
Maybe is the monthly magazine for everyone who has realized that true wisdom only works with a friendly shrug. Because the best decisions, according to my theory, always start with the beautiful words: “Maybe… let’s see.”
Any Questions?
Very good. Me too.
Yours, Cedric
